Installation
The single-click installer is automatically launched by selecting an audio link.
Installer downloads quickly (250k for the player and 550k for the combined player and recorder).
Once installed, your Javascript can control FreedomAudio and receive playback state notifications that permit you to synchronize the display of other Web page content together with your audio playback.
Requirements
Javascript and Standard Java 1.1 or higher (included with most browsers).
Compatible with Microsoft's Java, Netscape's Java, and the Sun Plugin.
Support for Mac and Linux are to come.
Note: Sun's Java Plugin (Java 2) is NOT a requirement.

Troubleshooting

The most common installation problem is not waiting long enough for the install file to finish downloading. 
Internet Explorer has a software installation features that FreedomAudio relies on for seamless installation. 
This feature, called the Package Manager, does not display any indication that a download is in progress. 

To permit FreedomAudio to install and run you must have the following Internet Security settings: 
To access these settings: 
Select Tools then Internet Options. 
Select Security. 
Select Internet and then Default Level. 
Set to Medium. 
Restart Internet Explorer - this must be done for the new settings to take effect. 
Try installing again. 
Or, for a Custom security level make sure you have the following Internet Security settings: 
ActiveX controls and plug-ins
Download signed ActiveX controls - Enable or Prompt (Prompt recommended)
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins - Enable or Prompt (Enable recommended)
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting - Enable or Prompt (Enable recommended)
Java Permissions - High, Medium, or Low (High recommended)
Scripting of Java applets - Enable

To access these settings: 
Select Tools then Internet Options. 
Select Security. 
Select Internet and then Custom Level. 
Change your individual settings. 
Restart Internet Explorer - this must be done for the new settings to take effect. 
Try installing again. 

For First-time Installation: 

Your browser may need to be restarted. 

For Updating an Existing Installation: 
If an earlier version of FreedomAudio has already run during your current browsing session, then you will need to restart your browser to load the new version.
